Who Will You Be When The Mask Comes Off?

May 11, 2021 | By | Add a Comment

With a little luck and more vaccinations, we could be starting the climb out of the hole left by COVID-19. I realize this last year has changed me. I want to sustain some of the deep change this time has brought me. In this 8 min video, I talk about three changes I am committing to making. How about you? What has shifted that you want to sustain? Thank you Cecilia Broder for the inspiration for the title more on Cecilia’s photography at https://cbimages-co.photoshelter.com/index

Trust and Building Your Relational Capital

April 16, 2021 | By | Add a Comment

A friend called me while he was trying to close a stressful financial transaction. He was incensed by the behavior of his business partner who had sent mean and threatening text messages to key people involved in the transaction. My friend said, “I will never trust this guy again.” “As I’m reading his emails, I feel like punching him in the face. What do you suggest I do?” I suggested separating his anger and hurt from his judgments about his partner’s emotional reactivity. “You don’t trust the man because you don’t want to feel hurt or scared again. Your partner’s behavior makes him emotionally unsafe to be around.” No one is going deep in this relationship unless trust is restored. […]

Thriving in the Midst of Crisis

December 21, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

The 75 years leading up to 2020 were some of the calmest in human history. What if the craziness of 2020 reflects a return to the average level of chaos on the planet? What if a new administration, or retiring, or moving to Canada isn’t going to be the answer? No doubt we want to prevent crisis when we can, but this year is showing us the limits of our control. What could be possible if you started expecting crisis and viewing it as an opportunity to step into your genius? In this 7-minute video I talk about how to do your pre-crisis leadership work in order to keep learning and growing, and how to use crisis to not just […]

Thoughts, feelings, systems, friends, family, beliefs—all these forms of resistance come from either inside or outside and have to do us or with others. What is your favorite form of resistance these days? I offer 3 things to do that just may get you to the next level.

Make Yourself Great Again: How to Navigate the Big Transition

October 13, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

There’s no coming to consciousness without pain. ― C.G. Jung 2020 has been an intense year filled with anxiety. We are in the thick of a great cultural and global transition that started about twenty years ago. Digital technology and social media have put the Big Transition into hyper-drive in the last ten years. At the Root of the Issues In addition to all its benefits, technology has preyed on the way our brains operate. The digital age has come with a deepening our brain’s neurological grooves that enables dualistic (e.g., right/wrong, good/bad) thinking. Our beliefs have become more extreme, and we have become more inflexible. Our brains have never been more susceptible to the deceptive messages from those seeking […]

Practical and Inspired: How I Want To Be With COVID

September 22, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

Welcome to the new normal. COVID may be with us for another year or more. We’re each processing this experience in our own way. In this 7 minute video I talk about how to integrate change in order to live fully without getting stuck in fear, anger or denial. I mention two brief articles that do a great job summing up the nature of the coronavirus and it’s potential impact on you. The first is an interview from a highly-credible epidemiologist talking about masks, physical distancing, and how the virus is transmitted The second talks about who is most susceptible to getting COVID (like a lot of privilege, you are lucky you live where you live). My takeaway: don’t hunker […]

What are You Changing? Making the Most of the Integration Stage of a Global Initiation

June 11, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

Sapiens are experiencing a global initiatory process in 2020. With our culture increasingly committed to distraction, addiction, and disconnection, such a process might just save us in the longer run. In two earlier videos, I discuss the Descent and Ordeal stages of initiation. In this nine-minute video, I talk about the Integration stage. I’m not suggesting we are out of the Ordeal stage but rather offering a road map for navigating these challenging times, inviting you to consider what you want to be different in your inner and outer life as you emerge from your cocoon. Declaring what you want to be different is the key to seeing and benefiting from the gifts that I think 2020 can bring.

May 8, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

Don’t underestimate the cumulative effects of stress caused by uncertainty and loss of connection…this COVID stuff is getting old and unfortunately, we have a long way to go. During stressful periods it’s important to move energy around. Give this 5-minute guided meditation/visualization a try…it will help you free up the clogged spaces in your head, heart and spirit. Maybe you’ll get hooked and do it every day. Not only is this good for overwhelm, anxiety, boredom, and/or low energy, it’s a practical energetic grounding process to use to start and end any day. Embracing the Ordeal: Stage 2 of Our Planetary Initiation

April 14, 2020 | By | Add a Comment

It is largely great love and great suffering that create spiritual listening and larger seeing. –Richard Rohr, Franciscan Contemplative Author and Teacher   The good news is, social distancing is working. The bad news is it may be the only thing that works for a while. Our ordeal continues…  This eight-minute video is the second in a three-part series in which I look at the coronavirus as a planetary initiation with three stages. This video looks at the “Ordeal” stage.  Your personal ordeal may be the result of feeling stuck or bored at home away from friends and colleagues, living with a lot of uncertainty, or maybe you know someone with COVID-19 or feel scared that you or someone you […]
